ザルツブルク大司教の宮廷楽団ヴァイオリニスト、宮廷作曲家、副楽長を歴任。ヴァイオリンの優れた教則本も残した。

最大の功績は息子ヴォルフガング・アマデウスの才能を最大限に伸ばし彼に関する多くの記録を残した事でしょう！
