Another one for a user on Instagram! Always afraid to do pet portraits and feel I won’t capture the look of the animal but the customer really liked this one, fills me with confidence! 💖

In college, I worked as a groomer for Petco. One day, a cat named Grimace rolled in a spilled jar of honey and then went outside to roll in the dirt.

It took three people to hold that cat down to be shaved.

The year 2020 is Grimace the cat.

Our beloved pets really helped us going through these difficult times and this by Lorna Lancaster is rather cute, isn't it? https://t.co/Sqx706CyXk

I quickly sketched some concepts while working at Disney for a Petco Star Wars collaboration when The Force Awakens was released.

Here are concepts and completion side by side.

The thing arrived at Petco in an unmarked carrier, and the staff was uncertain where to put it. Was it a bat? Or maybe a ... vole? Tom suggested the process of elimination, so after checking the thing for feathers, they crossed “bird” off their list and ran to fill up a fish tank
