Kinda hard for me to explain this. But I use an imaginary point of light and then pull all the shadows to the opposite side of the point of light. Mine isn't that good because I don't know how to shade, but that's the way I do it.

Usually, when I draw Kodi's art it starts out as a sketch, then I think, I want to color it, then I shade, then I render it accidently. Heck. Tried a new technique/style I am so heckin' happy with it. I have like 3 different versions, this was my favorite.
