Sub-Sonic's extremely fast in the Ocean and is equipped with 2 harpoons, thermal and night vision and an arm blade.

While tanky on land, he's not that fast.

the rubberhose look is essential to sonic's origins, but i think only focusing on that part of his design while disregarding the other inspirations that would show up later on is a bit disingenuous

Sonic characters' muzzles curve in a way meant to have the eyes roll naturally out of them.
