In my mind, the Bengus art is the PLATONIC IDEAL of each Marvel character! Even more so than official Marvel comics art! With the help of Katsuya Akitomo (who personally translated countless Marvel comics for the team) he distilled each character down to their perfect essence!

Even if that's the source material, it can still be depicted in a racist way. And you positively can only say that for his first appearance. Mad unfortunate, but it's a common thing for Balrog. These are Street Fighter V artworks by BENGUS, so it isn't a time thing either.

Initially unsure which Hulk to get. Figuarts for sure, but do I get the one that's got the Bengus crew cut or wait to get the purple pants one? Turns out you can just buy tiny purple pants for your Hulk. Thus the perfect Hulk figure is born. MvC style, but not too much Ruffalo.

The Wolverine and Hulk were a bit easier to decide on. After a bit of pining for the Mafex Wolverine I opted for the Legends one which is cheaper, still a match for the Bengus art, AND I can eventually get a spare head that's the 1st appearance look.

And the other Spider-Man/Venom pair is the Selects Spectacular Spider-man and the Legends Deluxe Venom. Much less posable, but much cheaper. They're SUPER evocative of the Bengus MVC art which is like my Spider-man/Venom. Not 100% sure how they'll scale being from different lines
