Today I'm at @AppledoreBkFest where I'll be talking on the subject of Writing About Folklore.
If you're in the area, drop in and say hello.
All of my books are available there, or on ourwebsite, or from all good bookshops.
Maybe even Twitter legends @swanseastones have them?

Paintings in the Musha-e (Warrior Pictures) tradition depict samurai warriors & battles from Japanese folklore. Such a painting would have been typically used for a kite. Musha-e iconography is now a reference point for contemporary Japanese tattoo design. https://t.co/9ady9ltUDm
#FolkloreThursday Joan de l'Ós is a character from Catalan folklore. He was born from the union of a bear and a woman. Disowned by his people, he wandered alone through the Pyrenees mountains living various adventures, until he faced the Devil himself to rescue a girl.
Today's Character Based On of the day is Kayo Sudou, from The Evillious Chronicles.
She is possibly based on Kuchisake-onna, a figure who appear in Japanese urban legends and folklore. According to popular legend, she asks potential victims if they think she is beautiful.

@SouthernGFX @3DWorldMag Would love to see your interpretation of a "Tikbalang". From Filipino folklore. Human body but with the head and feet of a horse. Or a "Manananggal". A bat-lady that can separate its torso from its legs and can re-attach them again.
In Brazil, August 22nd is celebrated the Day of Brazilian Folklore. This is the Boitatá, a large snake of fire that protects animals and forests from people who harm them and, above all, who carry out fires in the forests.

Trees play an important part in #JapaneseFolklore. In Shinto they are considered sacred and are believed to possess a spirit. While Totoro from the Studio Ghibli film is a fictitious character, it was no doubt inspired by the animistic beliefs of Japan.
