We see a Goliath up in the moon, this is a reference to how it is said that you can see a rabbit in the moon hammering mochi. Seems like it's a dog this time round. This also explains the family's bunny attire.

I'm a sucker for creature design and this beast makes me want to know more. The color contrast between foreground flames and beast's eyes is super effective. Age of protagonist makes me think YA. I'd pick it up.
