Step 1: Draw something
Step 2: Finalize where the light source is going (eye shiny)
Step 3: Put shadows wherever the light source wouldn't hit
Harsh lines is the key, don't blend it out.

Looks pretty good, I’d thin the wrists and soften the lines in the shoulders, look lines you can connect and create some flow. Heart shaped face. What you are struggling with is too many harsh angles, but think you have a good building block.
