Even the word 'autism' is stigmatised. I see many ppl use phrases instead (ie. 'on the spectum', 'neurodiverse'), as if they feel they're insulting someone when using 'autistic'.
Mia sees this in the story, too, from her Mum and kids. But, she starts to use the word proudly!
Have you noticed how in many tv shows with autistic characters, they only stim in 'bad' situations? More visible stimming is still seen as weird, awkward or uncomfortable. So, I wanted to show Mia stimming without really focusing on it.
this squid is autistic and there is NOTHING you can do about it! #Splatoon3 #Splatoon3Direct #splatoon3art
Fluttershy stimming with chewlery. they're autistic and is in ouer whole system along with other MLP fictives we have- Shane #fluttershy #mlp #mylittlepony
Just finished this commissioned portrait for fellow #actuallyautistic artist Kim! She grew up undiagnosed like me & connected with my pitch for Esme’s story. Here’s to finally unmasking our inner autistic dragons — and telling our childhood selves we were perfect just as we were!
Okay, let’s talk about how a Nonspeaking Autistic writer, Gregory Tino, just published a children’s book called The Autistic Boy in The Unruly Body, and how it’s the #1 new release on Amazon’s “Autism and Asperger’s” category. But first, a #NeuroInclusive story about #Apraxia
