I use blending layers. For shading, I usually find a color, based on the color of the lighting in the environment I’m drawing them in, shade, then set that layer to multiply and adjust the opacity accordingly. Same with lighting effects but set to glow or overlay

This is Gary the garden sprite. He camouflages into his surroundings by growing a nearby plant out his head. You probably have a garden Sprite in your back yard but you just can't see it because they're so good at blending in.

what i do is ill make like a blob, and erase the corners to make it look more like fire, maybe use the airbrush to make it look like its burning
then i do the same w 2 lighter colors, on diff layers, and add some blending modes on top to make it pop!

i felt the chairs where just too bland and blending it too much so i had fun with the colours and found a lil happy mistake with the duel colour that works with the lighting. and tweaked the floors to have checkered pattern
