1: I draw em out in advance before going digital and take it from there
2: I do it last and think of something on the fly for the character
3: just a gradient if I'm not feeling it

Excellent sky last night - redid M51, M63, M101 with UVIR filter to compare with LPro from last week. More detail, less colour. Gradients OK. Still needed high gain. Went on to chase down NGC3521 in Leo and Hicksons.

Was talking with a friend about some simple ways to "spice up" a pic and made some examples about how just using some quick and simple gradients for shading and highlight layers can do wonders for a vibe.
