The theme of today's #FolkloreThursday is work.
Scandinavian folklore has quite a few beings that have been known to help farmers, lumberjacks, hunters and others out during their often arduous and solitary work, but the most beloved is probably the tomte, who look after farms.
This is trasgu. Not goblin, orc or elf; he is Celtic, maybe cousin of leprechaun. Trasgu lives in forests north west of the Iberian Peninsula. He steals, hides & moves things in your home. If you move house, he follows you. Treat him well & he won't prank you. #FolkloreThursday
"The Lion's Share" is a folktale where a jackal, a fox, and a wolf go hunting with a lion, but when it comes to split up their hunt the lion claims the whole thing for himself.
The moral here is "Partnership with the mighty is never trustworthy"

#FolkloreThursday The Fenodree is a Manx Faerie of the brownie type. Known for being a skillful mower, he carries out a variety of tasks. Naked and covered with hair, he was originally a fair courtier cursed with ugliness and hard labor for bad behavior at court.
In many tales, the hero has to do various sorting tasks. In 'Vasalisa the Wise', she needs to pick poppy seeds from the dirt as a way to connect to her instinctual self & learn what it is she really wants, to tell real from fake, nourishment from deprivation. #FolkloreThursday

The Tailor of Gloucester by @beatrixpotter was based on a true incident

‘If it be a hard Winter, after your hounds are fed suffer them for an hour or two to stretch themselves before the fire.’

Similar to a Brownie, a Hob-thross appears in Cumbrian folklore. One, nicknamed Tawney Boy lived with a family at Overthwaite. Hob-thross will do a great deal of work for a family if treated well
