But theres something else. Starfire, in her blackness, is one of the most hypersexualized characters in comics. It shouldn’t escape your notice that whenever DC tries to revamp her into a white woman, they make sure shes also afforded a little more covering up. She "gets serious"

A lot of contemporary artists at DC comics still put in the work to make Starfire look black, thankfully. But it's far from being all of them. Promotional material for Starfire is by and large white-passing. This is the kind of thing mandated and managed by higher-ups.
