I like to start with a crude thumbnail sketch. It guides the vision but is vague enough to allow the imagination to expand and fill in the details in the process.

A couple of my favorite one from and another from I always have best results when I start with pencil on paper, scan, and then go full digital from there... very hard to start digital from nothing for me!

Here's my ! I use a lot of references for illustrations, so my wips tend to look tidy. The mess begins when i start painting 🤣
My favourite step is definitely adding the shadow and light layers and start painting on top!
