I see what you mean but I still don't get it. But what you see first on a design and stick with probably depend on people.

I remember a guy saying the eyes on my Mirage looked bad because he saw dots (blue) instead of closed eyes (red) and still didn't see them after I explain.

Finished a My Hero OC for and I have to say that I enjoyed drawing this style about the same as Fairy Tail! I designed her outfit and added the double dots as a reference to the designer who does Bakugo and Uraraka’s costume.

I feel that (I think a lot of us do)
3 things that help me:
-fit two characters into a single shape (like the yin-yang shapes into a circle),
-draw the characters on different layers as different colors (one red, one blue)
-creating anchor points and then connecting the dots.
