It uses a 200gW cartridge and fires 5gW lasers (40 shots). It has a rate of fire of 650 RPM. Featuring holographic projection sights, the R-12E1 is known to be a very efficient weapon in Lirun.

The .crt for Ultima V, being on cartridge, has almost no discernible loading delays, and no disk swaps. (IMHO that alone is worth it.) 😁 But also the music is now present in C64 mode. Previously you have to have a C128 to play with music. 🤔 I think that's all. Not much changed.

this panel is from THE TWILIGHT ZONE, March 1971 story in which a doughboy walks a WWI battlefield while time is stopped - I wonder if the "bullet" in question is there for the readership to recognize or because the artist didnt know that the cartridge doesn't fly with the bullet

In VICE64 .d81 images are a little fiddly, as you have to change the drive type from 1541 to 1581. So I usually go for EasyFlash cartridge images, as I can drop those onto the emulator and be going right away. But for things like Ultima V, that was eight disk-sides.. amazing. 😮

I never had a 1581. But I love how many games these days have been hacked to work on a 1581 disk or EasyFlash cartridge. It makes a huge difference, even in the VICE/HOXS emulators to how they play, without all that disk swapping and waiting. 💾
