Giant Robo also is in Otaku no Video in the theme park scene, which is a very obscure reference to the unused ending of the toku where Robo retires to a theme park

also the missile fingers in Gunbuster come from the toku, right down to the missile emblems.

By the way, Gunbuster has an erotic game created by the production company itself. The fact that otaku culture is tolerant of ero hasn't changed since the 80s. The director of this work is famous for Evangelion.
Hideaki Anno himself is the director of this erotic game.
