If I didn’t know who Hockney was, I’d probably see it and think “whoa wtf this is wild for New Yorker,”(other critique stands) but he’s a very famous modernist painter, and I can’t help but feel like this piece was given a cover not because of its merit but because of his name.

So sad to read that one of my favorite modernist industrial furniture designers, ENZO MARI just passed away at 88 on October 19 from the coronavirus. Love his minimalist design aesthetic and his beautiful, playful art prints.

Non serviam is Latin for "I will not serve". The phrase is attributed to who is said to have spoken these words to express rejection to serve God in his kingdom. In modern times "non serviam" developed into a phrase used by modernists to express rejection of conformity

you can´t go to Brazil without visiting its capital, Brasília located in the midwest region. this city is very important for the Brazilian modernist because it was built from scratch to house the goverment in the 60s!
