Right: simple gradients + one ‘multiply layer’ for all the drawing (veil was copied and pasted from the first case)

it's not very exciting! lots of adjusting levels, using masks to darken/lighten some areas, cleaning up stray pencil lines i couldn't erase, using multiply/screen layers to add depth.. that sort of thing!

Related! Here's a super easy way to colorize your line art. First, copy your flat colors onto one layer and Gaussian Blur it. Then use a clipping mask to apply that layer to your line art layer, and after that, use a Multiply layer and clipping mask to darken the lines!

'Kay, so. This is a layer on top of the flat colors set to multiply and filled with a midling gray. It LOOKS shadowy. So. Yay. IN THEORY, erasing stuff, should make it look light.... I will update if this leads to anywhere but frustration.

, how do you guys color your sketches/illusts? Do you just add the color in a multiply layer? Or do you use a normal layer and then transfer the lineart group above the layer with the colors?
