If you are losing your silhouettes, use the lasso tool to draw the silhouette and then use a large soft round brush to carefully bring out the edge of the silhouette. You should paint outside your selected region so only the soft edges of the brush paint inside the selection

So I do all these sketches and I feel like they're pretty good but what I just started doing (because sketches are deceiving) is making a sillouette out of the sketch to see if there is anything wonky about it AND THERE WAS so I fixed them in the silhouette. Glad I caught myself.
