First draw your art; you’ll wanna color the water last, add a layer, color it blue and put it on multiply. Then you’ll wanna create some white lines on the water(+1 layer) and erase in between the line, lastly duplicate the layer and click alpha lock + color it a darker shade

At this point you can group all your layers, make a duplicate and merge the second group so that you have a back up.

With the merged layer you can liquify any mistakes and add an optional outline to make your emote more visible when small.

I duplicate the layer and blurr the layer about 1-2 percent (if it’s too much, I lower opacity on the layer)
I do it mostly to hide missing colored pixels as well as the line art being too pixelated for my liking.

1st I just duplicated the butterfly a few times & moved it around. After I finished arranging them, I duplicated the final version & moved one of them to the right & one of them to the left! As you can see below, the first group of butterflies is now seamless!

my go to for blending is usually duplicate -> bottom layer gaussian blur/top layer overlay while also feathering the edges of the top layer; feathered edges were just "blending for dummies"
