Not that anyone asked, but Allu is a kind of weird amalgamation of Yotsuba and a Gelfling from The Dark Crystal, both things I was obsessed with as a kid. Anime inspiration came first, then later I really learned to appreciate the work of Brian Froud.

Crones, hags & witches vilified & stereotyped as cruel, evil & wicked in most folklore & fairy tales, were in fact once the spiritual leaders, healers & midwives of their communities. Highly respected & esteemed as imparters of lived knowledge

Also just realised how much some of my works where inspired by the Faeries book ( Brian Froud/Alan lee ). Now I want to do more of these :)

To me Alan Lee is one of those quiet artists that somehow never got the exposure they deserved. He is for instance the co-author of many illustrations of the Faery book with Froud, and most of the time his works are the ones that convey more weight, authenticity and atmosphere.

of course can't post about Brian Froud without mentioning the Dark Crystal, one of my childhood best movie memory. :)
