Prof Richard Gameson dates the MS A.IV.35 edge paintings as contemporary with the writing of the book (late C12th here in Durham). So it's interesting to compare them with the wall painting of Cuthbert in the Cathedral's Galilee Chapel, which is also late 12th century.
