Stumbled upon this wild fossil. Mimetaster hexagonalis was a marrellomorph arthropod, a distant relative of trilobites. This particular specimen was preserved in pyrite in the German Hunsrück Slate.

The frightening cover art to one my favourite games, ZETA, was done by Yasufumi Fujii, who was born in 1949 and was a prolific sci-fi illustrator in the 80s. These days he almost exclusively paints dinosaurs due to his long passion for paleontology.
