SAO has a bright, beautiful, creative world. And it appears to be carefully designed to appear almost like a painting. The anime made one of the most appealing fantasy worlds ever made. A world that I feel would be damaged by realism.
'A Corner of the Tamar Valley.' Harold Hitchcock's work falls recognisably into the English romantic tradition of William Blake and Samuel Palmer; sometimes slipping freely between the extremes of the French 17thC classicist Claude Lorraine and a touch of 20thC surrealism.
Sister Location sprites imply that he loses teeth from the rot. Pupils turn supernaturally white making him appear more "possessed" and zombie looking. His pecs are due to Ennard trying to Emulate them crudely as seen in his model. I kept them more natural looking for realism.
