One of the most obvious aspects of the thylacine is that they don't really look much like any marsupial living today.
They do, however, look a lot like placental canids (wolves, dogs & relatives).
So much so that they are sometimes known as the 'marsupial wolf'!

I think about the tragedy of the thylacine (aka Tasmanian tiger) A LOT. How we hunted them to extinction. The last of its kind, named Benjamin, died alone in a zoo in 1936. There are dozens of thylacine sightings reported each year, but no hard evidence. (1/2)
