The Oʻahu ʻalauahio (Paroreomyza maculata) is a Critically Endangered #Pacificbird native to O’ahu. Last reliably seen in 1985, it's likely extinct. This honeycreeper ate invertebrates and habitat loss and malaria are key threats

Segmentation and patterning of the vertebrate hindbrain
In their Review, Robb Krumlauf and David Wilkinson discuss how sharp patterns of segments and boundaries are formed during hindbrain development.

American 1800s naturalist and artist Andrew Garrett collected and studied Pacific Island mollusks, fish, corals, and other invertebrates, also drawing and painting many fishes and shells 🐚🐠Check out his watercolor collection, held at @mayrlibrary: https://t.co/f0uanwDvwi
preview of my piece for @bugoffpkmnzine!!
everyone has done such amazing work, please check it out when sales go up on the 15th! all profits will be going to The Xerces Society for invertebrate conservation 🐛
Really cool design but I still don't get how in the ep, the vertebrate paleontologist of the crew saw the loch ness & said "oh yeah, that's a mosasaur". 😂
This show is hella underrated, even among the kaiju community and it boggles my mind. It also used cryptids before KotM.
Dividing the pediatric mediastinum into prevascular, visceral, and paravertebral compartments can help the radiologist bring an organized approach to the broad spectrum of disease encountered in this space. https://t.co/W63Rl2OR0o #PedsRad #RGPhx
Otherworldly land-and-seascapes, leading off another week of island artwork from my residency with @ShoalsMarineLab. Photo by Jan Factor; weird art by me. (Tomorrow: marine vertebrate sketches!)
New paper alert! CIA member @LauraBPorro and colleagues @JimBobJud, @gimpasaura, and @jemilyr explore cranial anatomy the early tetrapod 𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑎 𝑑𝑒𝑙𝑡𝑎𝑒. Find out how well one of the earliest vertebrates on dry land could bite! https://t.co/KbfEcelpxU
These are Lummeer! The species that started it all. I made them back in like 2016 in the middle of the night and they’ve come a long way since!
They’re omnivores who eat plants and invertebrates. Instead of a shell they have a rubbery coating that is very tough to pierce.
Moon snails to sea stars! Sketching marine invertebrates in the lab and field @shoalsmarinelab.

I am Venezuelan Vertebrate Paleontologist and discovered for the first time the Tremarctinae bear Arctotherium wingei from Guacharo Cave and Muaco, Venezuela, and my month salary is less than 180$
I made a reference for my HOG sona, Whiskey!
to date this is probably the character that looks the most like me IRL- they collect invertebrates, enjoy mushroom hunting, and like to get rowdy at night!
also big gay for @/dirtsecret's Remi 🐗💕
Our last presentation at the Visual SciComm Conference is 3D Modeling Animal Anatomy with @miekeroth! Mieke will show how she made a 3D model of a rat neck, including vertebrae and surrounding tissue, while discussing the future of 3D. Register by July 14! https://t.co/lqg2wm0ZfP
Mastodonsaurus and Tanystropheus. Animals that we can find in Trassic layers in Poland. During excavations led by @LCzepinski i found teeth of M. and cervical vertebra of T. 30 cm long. The angle of Tanystropheus neck is quite bold, it probably couldnt bend it too much.
