you mean DQ's Golems? I guess it could be considered a reference, but it's more "Dragon Quest permanently altered Japan's depiction of fantasy tropes", and so even subconsciously an artist might draw similar motifs.

I realized that when I was a pre-teen/middleschooler I was obsessed with not one, but TWO spider-motifed(ish) smug bastard antagonists who mostly were featured in one arc and who were somewhat divisive if not outright disliked by rest of the fandom.
