This is an Asteride— a predator that attaches itself to asteroids and uses its long tongue to scour the asteroid holes for creatures and mites to eat. Once prey is found, the claws at the end of the tongue grab onto it and whisk the prey up to the Asteride’s mouth.

Todays first Ecological Horror is the Jakaelopterus!

The Jakaelopterus was a Devonian horror and also the largest arthropod to ever exist. These were apex predator Sea Scorpions that could grow up to 9 feet long. They went extinct around 252 million years ago!
