I feel the same way, just add bad art direction. None of the characters are memorable, design wise, and at worst unappealing. For instance, I get that they were trying to give the main character heart-shaped hair, but the way it sits/moves looks so awkward.

Yotsuba's "darkness" ~ as Neiji Haruba sensei put it, has it's own appeal, especially considering how we usually know her as 🔥🥳 It adds depth to her character beyond, as well as generate some more controversial opinions of her 😅🍀

As an artist who has influences in the Western superhero comics, I will say some definitely aren't as flashy as manga. Dynamic? Hell yeah, but I 100% could understand why it's not as appealing. However i'd say these comics' pros are kinda more so environments or even concepts tbh
