Start with big square brush and block in shapes, switching between additive and subtractive brush strokes. Carve in and out. Then, halve the brush size and do the same. Then halve once more. In 25-30 minutes (or less), you’re most of the way there. Coast to final.

I think it's one of my fully digital painting. I'm always sketching traditionally since it feels safe and right this way.
But I truly liked starting from simple strokes and form and I must say that I enjoyed sketching in procreate.

Every time I write off John Singer Sargent for being all about superficial drapery and sleeping with his subjects, I come across a painting of his like this...THE MOSQUITO NETS (1908) at has wispy visible brushstrokes making the image seem very spontaneous.

i'm trying to literally paint this shoe brown for the past 5 min, but any of my strokes were registering, i tried to create another layer, change the layer, put the layer somewhere else.

Then i opened another project and it was working, and i was like WTF?

Okay most seemed to like A and C so I did 2 more studies.

D is just a little smoother C, i used the fluid brush which makes less uh.. "flash strokes" well say!

E is essentially what I call a combination of A (from previous pic) and C

And remember guys, the trick to painting hair is VARIETY.

Try to vary the thickness of your brushes. Vary with soft strokes and strong ones. Vary in color. Vary in the brushes you use and the methods to blend. Thick lose vs thin sharp shapes.

Then you'll see vast improvement 💗

Interestingly, much of the artwork we're adding will have almost a classic, painterly feel to it (we like to say that Jesse is busy painting "unhappy little trees"). We think that combination of soft brushstrokes and clean, modern layout is a very powerful overall look.
