the ken sugimori one was going for his older gen 1-2 watercolors. hugely comforting nostalgic vibes for me. i love the occasional geometric elements in the bgs, so i incorporated one. scorbunny felt like an appropriate starter for himbo! two leggy boys

It's mainly based off of Monty! I used a lot of the colors associated with him (plus hes my fav) but they stand out against her cloud of white hair and her pale skin (besides her left arm) which is hard to do with other color pallets I like which are normally more pastel colors.

So it seems like it works better with more "pure" colors. My method is usually just using a darker shade of the color I'm shading with (first 2 are Darken, next 2 are Multiply)

It's weird to think that it wasn't until Build that they designed a lead Kamen Rider with the classic red/blue superhero colors. Maybe they thought it would be too on-the-nose, given that they're primary colors, but it looks good with the black to break it up.
