I started incorporating backgrounds into my stuff this year. Not massively fancy stuff, but it makes my art pop so much better than just having the character standing on a coloured background.

I used to charge $5 for a full body shaded piece with a background. Now that costs $55-70.

Yeah so fucking real. We have created for as long as we have been able to. I always think of the Apollo 11 stones. Dated over 25k years old. Portable artwork. Maybe no different from carrying around an icon, or even using your favorite art as a phone background.
