With mono printing you can simply ink up a flat surface with water-based inks, then manipulate the wet ink utilising various tools, without the need to use acid or other toxic substances. This was important to me, in order to make these prints more sustainable.

As can often happen, I think the inks lost some of the sketch's energy -- it was my first work for Matt (and DH) in a while and I might've got in my head a little. I should've kept the sword's sweep line, too... maybe a trail of that great blue alien blood to suggest the motion.
