Bravely Default has the Ba'al. Legit the most jarring, out of nowhere optional bosses I've fought in an RPG. Living toy goldfish and a skeletal turtle dove in wedding gear, all with creepy kid choir music that turns to rock. And they just SHOW UP in the village over time.

As always, Sanae's horizontal homing bullets (?) are good, but the damage output is very low. I had to use Remilia's card to quickly defeat the bosses (except Tenkyu)

Dove into a few quick old heroics thinking I'd get to flex and be the hero carry. Then shows up and is nuking the bosses harder than me with 20 ilvl less gear. Upstaged by those gosh darned boomkins again!

To balance something like that, I have a few ideas in mind. The especially funny idea that always seems to pop up in my mind for superbosses is altering a core mechanic in a simple way.

Such as being able to do multiple moves at once.
Now that, that would be something alright.
