Fantastic! Reminds me of this Charles II needlework depiction of the Judgement of Solomon. Made with coloured silks & silver & gilt metal threads, with purl-work/moss-work, it shows just how vibrant biblical art was in post-Reformation Britain. On this day in 1810, Sweden declares war on Great Britain. Reluctantly forced into it by Napoleon, Stockholm takes absolutely no military action against the United Kingdom.

(Accordingly, here's a pic from the era of Swedes not fighting.)

made three back to back, and this, the middle one, I found to be his weakest. I didn't much like the script or the annoying characters, but it's nice to see we have our own classics right here in Britain.

31 October 1940 passed without significant aerial conflict but later became regarded officially as the last day of the Battle of Britain.
501 Squadron saw extensive action during the Battle of Britain, with 19 pilots killed, more than any other squadron.

For our series we celebrate (1931-2020), a resident, whose life was as colourful as his paintings.

A great painter living in plain sight, his work was overlooked in Britain. Let's change that.
