Oh, and some close-up views, because I just realised that Twitter is a nice way to show details (look at my brushstrokes!):

"I am at liberty to paint flowers and call them flowers.” Pierre Auguste Renoir evolved a technique of broken brushstrokes and bold combinations of colors.
His floral paintings remain some of the most popular artworks in the world. Flowers, he said, made people happy.

Drawing from paintings.

It’s the best way to get to know the artist and the artwork. You follow the brushstrokes, the shapes, the figures, the composition, the details.

All the while, making surprising discoveries.

When I listen to music, every sound, every rhythm has a unique colour and texture. I see melody dancing, changing like the northern lights in the sky. My brushstrokes aspire to capture every note. My soul hypnotises in the unique painting style.

Here's a little pinup I've been poking away at over the last week. I've been trying to develop a painting style with more confident and visible brushstrokes. I think it might help me get more paintings finished, since I'll be able to leave them a little looser:

7 brushstrokes that took a few seconds and 15 years to paint.
I made the ink and gouache myself.
I used my precious chinese brushes and top quality washi paper.
But what is actually painted is the white part.

Redrew my old oil spill painting from 2 1/2 years ago. My art has changed so much but I am happy to finally work with looser brushstrokes and am not striving for technical perfection and instead work on the “feeling” and storytelling.

This gorgeous Senja Brendon painting is ready for its new home. Brendon cleverly applies textural brushstrokes with varied use of line, direction and consistency to depict the movement of elemental forces.

And that Adora... I loove how you aged her face by adding scars and removing her usually hopeful air..🥺💔 the hair is fantastic, the massive black brushstrokes to add definition and depth to it is such a uniquely inspired artistic solution I've never seen before☺️🥰

Some wonderful 🐷 paintings completed in just one double lesson (1hr 20) focusing on layering, brushstrokes, contour and chiaroscuro. Excellent results by all our L6, but these ones by Mia, Harriet, Eleanor and Ki-Din have really blown us away with their confident paint-handling!

Beefed up another sketch into what might be my favorite painting I've ever done? REALLY in love with the brushstrokes and shading I used to make this.

With thanks to for having just the best little fella to draw, Iceball!

The scan of that last piece! Happy with the outcome of this gouache/oil pastel experiment, but let's see if I can get the brushstrokes to pop more in the next attempt.
