I decided to read about the original "Snow White" tale, known in German as "Sneewittchen," 1st published by Bros in 1812. Through this I found Franz Jüttner's illustrations from a 1905 edition. Time to retell the story through an image thread (1/7)

Folio from a 19thC manuscript from Sri Lanka with a drawing of the 12 zodiac signs; the central portrait is probably that of the god/prince Rāma, conqueror of the demon Rāvaṇa who had kidnapped his wife Sītā on the island of Sri Lanka https://t.co/nOUMXiTXHO

I dropped this late last night - and didn't have time to write about why I chose to base my newest piece on the old timey painting of dogs playing poker by CM Coolidge. 1/ It's a quintessional piece of early 20thC kitsch art. It's instantly recognisable. It's funny. It's dogs.
