Thanks!
I was debating Gulo next, but I was just going to go in order of publication for each book.
I did Tsarmina first, though, back in 2021, so next would be Slagar.

Something you're excited about is coming up.

You can't wait. You're imagining how great it will be every day.

The time comes. The event happens and it's nothing like you thought.

It's horrible.

Or so you think.

That's life.

And that's my book.

If anyone ever asked me this I'd straight up say "two."

I'm not lying. To make a nice piece like these I just need two, maybe even just one. Why? Because I use the ink pen brush and the salty watercolor brush in Autodesk Sketchbook. https://t.co/plTPxswbeK

The visual fantasy of the story had to feel pre-1984 (the setting of the story) as that is how the characters in the story would visually interpret that fantasy world.

Here are some key concept art image from an early pitch version of “Coal Face.”

You can see more in the book.

“Coal Face – The Devil in the Smoke” visual style is indebted to the art of .
I wanted to capture that wonderful Harryhausen/Dore style for the book. The same monster films that inspired me growing up.

I had the chance to chat with Ray Harryhausen many years ago.

Decided to scan some of the art from the Steven Report II. This is official art paired with short stories featured in the book.

This piece is by Tukasa Kiryu for a story called "A Hard Battle in the Coliseum"

's current operatic run on 'Tec is constantly being elevated by incredible covers that brilliantly convey the gothic atmosphere of the book. These two by & Mike Perkins are absolute perfection.

The snake jaw I took some inspiration from Krampus' Klown monster, but I wanted to do my best to avoid it looking too identical to the now well-known Twisted Bonnie illustration which would also fit the description of ITP Bonnie from the book. (Cont.)
