150 years ago Prussian forces began shelling Paris to try and end the siege and Franco-Prussian War. Over the next 3 weeks, around 12,000 shells were fired on the city and its 2 million residents, held under siege since 19 September 1870.

I think you're talking about the Seven years war if it had French vs British/Canadian. But these were most likely the uniforms they wore.
