Our illustrator of the day is Rosie Thwaites 🌈 We love her gorgeous colours.

Rosie says - "I consider myself a writer first; story ideas fairly regularly pop into my head. Within a good story, I hope to posit questions that will encourage critical thinking in young readers.''

You know I was sending a lot of praise to Secret Wars 2015 the other day and while I adore that event let’s not forget how fantastic Secret Wars 1984 was. I still stand by it being the best entry for new Marvel readers. More so then 2015 even.

The Borne trade paperback's gone into a seventh printing. Borne got tons of critical acclaim when it came out, but didn't make bestseller lists... instead, it just kept selling steadily long past the usual sales cycle. Thanks, readers. That's what word of mouth can do.

I will support creators on crowdfunding, but this is why I went Patreon first. I want to give my readers monthly comics so they never have to wait years books. Respect the readers. Respect their money. Wut if your $2-5 a month got you 3-5 series a month?

Magazine circulation shows interesting things about Victorian reading. Judy was read by the lower middle class – urban working people who may have had a servant. Whoever bought the magazine passed it on, creating a large network of hidden readers.

So 30 years ago things were looking grim for ‘older’ UK comics readers.
Revolver was cancelled at the end of 1990 & merged into Crisis which in turn got cancelled in 1991.
Blast! & Toxic! both launched in ‘91 & neither saw the year out.
Covers:Kane, Manara,MacNeill + Edmond

Spanish artist Jaime Brocal Remohí was born OTD in 1936. He was one of the illustrators Jim Warren employed to revitalize his horror magazines in the early 70s, and his "The Mummy Walks" series with Steve Skeates in EERIE was a hit with readers. He died in 2002.

Indiana Jones-style action collides with Who Framed Roger Rabbit-esque insanity in this genre-bending new series for mature readers. Back Slow City Blues and check out these covers for issue from (left) and Derrick Chew (right)! https://t.co/Elcw8oT2X3
