#Titian called these paintings the 'poesie' because he drew on Classical poetry for their subject matter, and he imagined them working as visual poems. Find out why these were the most ambitious and magnificent works of his career: https://t.co/nhXRUkB9R2 #MuseumFromHome
We don't have a working printer at home, but I wanted a blank map of Greece and the Aegean so the 9 yr old could start working on his classical geography. #socialdistancelearning
So I drew a quick one. And now we're off to the races (as it were). #mapsathome

Holy crap I think I was onto something here and I just made a new style for myself for that painterly bishonen thing I wanna go for. But holy crap I hope I can do this again. Gotta get my classical fantasy look a move on.

Jacques-Louis David (1748-1825) painted this, The Funeral of Patroclus, in 1778. It is his first neoclassical work & he would go on to be the master of the neoclassical movement. It was painted in Rome. Now recognised as seminal in his oeuvre, it was once a table top!
