I made this sprite by using the original Mion Sonozaki sprite. I traced the face and arms and outline of the eyes. The rest was drawn myself in a similar style still using the Mion sprite as a mapping reference underneath to keep the same feel and size of the original characters.

The Duesenberg J that I traced (yep, TRACED) was apparently a 1931, even though the cartoon took place in 1930. I'm not sure how long cars have been put out a few months or so before their model year, but... I don't feel like Duesenbergs would've been released like ordinary cars

use the tools! trace them! nobody cares as long as it works with your process and fits the aesthetic you're going for. I traced my own sketchup models all the time
