@Portergauge what's happening is the shackles come out fine as a result because they don't have any alpha values on them, but the skin isn't being set correctly, but it also isn't intended to be transparent. The result is a black void instead. It's *supposed* to be this if you remove alpha.
Yeah... he's so fond of Anerican values. https://t.co/c3P5VLKLC7

Here is a tip about values for working from life, find the big relationships first! Here was my first step in this painting, with a foundation like this the small changes like blending and gradients fit well within the overall impression and the parts then relate to the whole.
@ReubenYeoArt Great work so far Reuben! I love this piece haha, it's so cute.
My suggestions for things to work on would be;
1. Acting and dynamic posing! You're doing a great job on values and material read, which is something I see people struggling with a lot. Something that could--
@hexsharpe anatomy and use good reference is important to making the whole piece read at the same level.
2. Value read- you tend to use the same value range across the whole piece. Try to separate values ranges into clear groupings before you render! credit @cheekiebrush
Update on the direction I have gone with my latest illustration. Any suggestions to enhance the image are more than welcome!

Increasingly, more conventional businesses across industries are looking into the co-op model as both a reinforcement of their social values and a savvy way to run a small startup > https://t.co/STW4mY0xV9
thank you! im by no means an expert (i need work on values, defining shape, differing materials, etc) but these are things i keep in mind for my particular process. nothing is set in stone, i try to mix up my approach frequently! blendy brushes are my shading bestie lol
Rosalina adding some magic to her bike, the Luma doesn't seem particularly impressed with her work... ✨
I focused more on values and contrast here than anything else...! Hope it shows. Gonna practice more

Loved this one until i started to render it X'D The values seem like theyre just all over the place but there's a lot about the design and the initial concept that I really like.

I learned to rely on my values and lighting rather then put details into the eyes that don't need to be there. https://t.co/iZf0d0ryRl
@Briarfox13 thank you so much, and yes ofc !!
i’m not too sure how to explain in detail but usually i put down b&w values first and then color them in with a color layer!
i use higher saturation and high contrast to draw focus :)
