Gustave Doré's (1832-1883) illustrations for The Divine Comedy

Doré was 23 years when he decided to create a series of images for an edition of Dante's Divine Comedy. Unable to convince his publisher to fund it he funded the first edition himself.

Baron Dante's (from Croc Legends of the Gobbos) beta name was Denver. This was changed later on to "Dante" as it didn't sound "evil" enough.

So yeah, these two almost shared a name and it still makes me smile like an idiot.
