On top of the difference layer I do an overlay layer and I shade general idea of the light source, shading the characters/foreground/background independently. I use multiply for shadows and screen for highlights, but the highlights are mostly for hair and bounced light.

Not yet done - needs blended, needs highlights, needs PROPER CLOTHES, but my breaking point came upon realising I forgot he needs clothes and now I have to cover up all these goddamn muscles. :') Why can't everyone just be always be shirtless? Questions for the ages.
