Perugino’s Madonnas are particularly attractive & would have been used in private chapels, of well to do Italians, for devotion. (The varnish on the Madonna has clouded the image). Madonna & Child (c1495), Madonna in Glory (1495-6) & St Sebastian (1495)

2019 experiment of goauche paint on canvas with some crackle paste and liquid gold leaf. Then covered with resin to see what would happen and it protected the paint! Plus like varnish makes the colors pop 🌌🌠🌌

A study of hands. The varnish has yellowed, but you can see the streaks of grey on the gesso - a technique of Rubens - it adds depth to sheer glazes. Opaque whites come forward, shadows recede (sheer darks).
