#132 Mordred
Prydwen is one of Arthur’s earliest attributed weapons, appearing in the Welsh Preiddeu Annwfn and Culhwch & Olwen as a great ship. Geoffrey of Monmouth later uses the name for Arthur’s shield. Naturally, TM opted for a surfboard as a way of adopting both origins.

"First try at this one and I think it did pretty well. The hatching could have been done better though."
My resident #barnowl was making a lot of noise last night so I’m posting this owl I painted a few years ago 🦉

"My little Togepi"
Today I learned that the Welsh word for the sport of squash is sboncen - “sbonken” - which is even better than smwddio - “smoothio” - for ironing imho and makes me love Welsh more than ever.
3 December on the #fantasyadvent: @FisherAuthor’s The Clockwork Crow. A beautiful Gothic story, featuring a feisty Victorian orphan girl, a lost boy, a haunting manor, scary Welsh fairies (the #tylwythteg), plenty of snow, all coming together at Christmas!

#126 Bedivere
Another one of Arthur’s oldest comrades, Bedivere appears in both old Welsh tales and the Lives of Saints. He was always disabled, but still a peerless knight as referenced in Pa Gur where he is mentioned to have killed 100 men under the command of a werewolf.
#123 Gawain
In contrast to Gawain and Tristan, Gawain is one of the oldest members of the Round Table and appears in the earliest Welsh tales about Arthur under the name Gwalchmei. His character changes drastically over the centuries, from a perfect knight to kind of a buffoon.
