Spent quite a bit of time on these foreground sketches getting the composition right for this panel and can now draw the three characters up and fit them into the layered background. (In case anyone’s interested at all in how I do some of these things.)

Crayon Shin-Chan developed a unique filmmaking style to solve the issue of framing adults with tiny children in the same shot: lots of extreme high and low angles, and pushing characters way into the foreground or distance.

After that I do the standard lineart + flat color step.
I usually draw the stuff hidden by foreground layers in case I wanna change the composition later but you can skip this step to save more time!
If I decorate the characters with assets, I put them above the lineart layer.
