Kobold NPCs...because sometimes players go and adopt 5 kobolds instead of killing them, and then the kobold steals one of the player's dogs.

I do like how the recoloured Digimon have justification for their existence; it was so that in Digimon World the player could differentiate between wild Digimon and NPCs. They also gave them different abilities and lore, so they seem more unique.

An NPC my players recently met in our campaign. She runs a caravan business, handles whiskey like a champ, and doesn't care much for mincing words.

People who've spent any time in the Mojave Desert might recognize she's a redesigned tribute to one of my fav npcs.

Tonight’s D&D: We killed Hawkwind, with Sariel taking the final blow with a light arrow. The big bad took the form of a dragon, and we got some really good rolls! We took it down, and were joined by two friendly NPCs. Mostly importantly, no one died!
